William Hughes Diller, Jr. Scholarship Award

I, therefore, direct the Executor of my Last Will and Testament dated November 2, 2006, to establish such a scholarship funded by $100,000 from my residuary estate. That amount shall be paid to the Sangamon County Community Foundation, a 501 © corporation, and income therefrom shall be paid to the University of Illinois Foundation with directions that the Foundation do as follows: The income from said Fund shall be used for establishment of a scholarship or scholarships for the College of Agriculture at the University of Illinois. The scholarship shall be awarded annually to an individual who is interested in pursuing a career in family farming in Sangamon County, Illinois. If no one qualifies in Sangamon County, for an individual interested in persuing a career in family farming in Logan or Menard Counties, Illinois. He or She shall be awarded the scholarship on the basis of academic achievement, need, and community service. The scholarship shall be awarded on an annual basis but shall be for four years, if the student maintains a 3-point average out of 4-point curriculum. If the student does not maintain a 3-point average, he or she shall lose the scholarship, except that the Dean of the College of Agriculture or his or her designee, may continue the scholarship if he or she determines that there are extenuating circumstances which warrant its continuation. The awarding of the scholarship shall be publicized in the newspapers in Sangamon, Menard, and Logan Counties and to the Superintendents of the school districts in those counties. The recipient of the scholarhip shall be provided with a plaque signifying that it is the William Hughes Diller, Jr. Scholarship Award to those who are interested in family farming and is awarded on the basis of academic excellence, need and contributions to community service. The awarding of the scholarship shall be publicized in the local newspapers and in the newspapers at the University of Illinois.
