Joseph Markunas Scholarship

Net income from the Fund shall be used to support scholarship(s) for full-time junior(s) or senior(s) students whose legal residence is Illinois, enrolled in the College of Agriculture, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The scholarship(s) shall be known as Joseph Markunas Scholarship(s). The student recipient(s) shall be known a Joseph Markunas Scholar(s). Decision(s) as to the a) student(s) who shall receive the scholarship(s); b) number of scholarships to be awarded and c) the amount of each scholarship shall be determined by the Dean, College of Agriculture, or designee(s), subject to the approval of the appropriate University officials. The scholarships shall be granted to students based on academic merit and financial need. The scholarships shall be granted to students who have indicated an academic and/or experience interest in one or more of the following disciplines: biotechnology, water conservation, water resources, and/or hydroponics. The donor hopes the scholarship(s) will influence the recipient(s) to pursue graduate degree(s) in one of the disciplines stated above.
