Anna Lou Johnston Roth Scholarship
The Fund shall be used for scholarships and fellowships for students enrolled the College of Law and for scholarships and fellowships to undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Agriculture and in the College of Commerce and Business Administration at the University of Illinois. Scholarship and fellowship recipients shall be selected according to academic merit and other pertinent criteria which the three Colleges shall establish, define and consistently apply. Preference shall be given to unmarried candidates of good moral character and citizenship. Good moral character and good citizenship shall be accorded great weight the in the evaluation and selection of recipients. Subsequent misconduct and activities evidencing the lack of these qualities which, if same had been made known and considered at the time scholarship of fellowship was granted, shall be grounds for recipient disqualification and termination of the particular grant. The three Colleges, respectively, shall each select scholarship and fellowship candidates. Recipients shall be determined by mutual agreement among the three Colleges consistent with the allocation of funds as hereinabove provided for and, in addition, with the advice and consent of a committee of three persons, comprised of the Superintendent of the Taylorville Community Unit School District, the Judge of the Circuit Court of Christian County who shall have had the longest tenure as a judge residing in said county and the Executor of the Last Will and Testament of Anna Lou Johnston Roth and their respective successors in office. Should the office of any one thereof be abolished or abandoned for a period in excess of six months, those officials remaining shall possess and are hereby granted the power to designate a successor member to said committee. Available scholarships and fellowships shall be granted to students who are graduates of a Christian County, Illinois, high school. Should there be an insufficient number of qualified applicants therefrom in a given year, these scholarships and fellowships shall be granted to students who are graduates of high schools nearest in geographical proximity to Christian County, Illinois.
